| Q.
Is a building permit required and who is responsible for obtaining
the permit? |
| A.
A building permit is required and Master Garage Builders will
obtain the building permit. The only exception would be if you
purchased a pre-built kit. In this case we cannot pull the permit
because you are the one doing the work; however we do provide
the necessary engineering and can help guide you through the permitting
process. |
| Q.
Am I allowed to locate my building anywhere on my property? |
| A. Not
necessarily. You should first check with your local zoning department
to determine what the zoning requirements and setbacks are for
your particular piece of property. Setbacks refer to the distance
a building must be from property lines. |
| Q.
How do your prices compare with other builders? |
| A.
If you’re comparing apples to apples our prices will generally
be dramatically less than those of other state certified contractors.
Since a garage has to meet the same building code as a new home
and because obtaining the proper engineering and getting a building
permit can be time consuming; most state certified contractors
would rather concentrate their efforts on larger projects, unless
of course they’re able to make an excessive profit. |
| Q.
Why are your prices so much less than the average builder? |
A.
For one, garages and storage buildings are all we do. Our system
of pre-fabricating buildings in a controlled environment results
in greater consistency and reduced waste.
We also manufacture our own engineered trusses instead of purchasing
them from an outside truss plant like most builders. We already
have the required engineering for our buildings and because our
plans have been approved by the Florida Department of Community
Affairs, the permitting process on the local level is much faster
than normal. Most importantly, we simply believe in building the
best possible building at the best possible price. |
| Q.
What is the difference between your buildings and a shed? |
| A.
All of our buildings meet or exceed the same building code as
that of a new home in Florida. Our buildings are built on a concrete
monolithic foundation with footings and are therefore permanent.
Most sheds are built with wooden floors and considered portable.
Unlike a permanent building, a shed will not typically add any
value to your property. |
| Q.
Will your buildings withstand hurricane force winds? |
| A.
Yes. Our buildings are engineered to a basic wind speed of 130
mph (3 second gust), which meets or exceeds the maximum wind speed
for the majority of the state. |
| Q.
How much can I save by purchasing a pre-built kit and doing it
myself? |
| A.
On average you can save around $10 per SF. Our kits are delivered
to you pre-built and pre-sided so they can be assembled rather
quickly. We also provide the engineered drawings and an easy to
read installation manual so doing it yourself can be easier than
you think. |
